Yan Li is Associate Director of Department of Ocean Strategies and Planning, National Ocean Technology Center, State Oceanic Administration, People’s Republic of China. In June 2012, she joined NEPTUNE Canada as a visiting scholar, working with the DMAS group. In her role as Associate Director, she helped secure over $12 million toward design and building of a test site in-situ for small scale wave and tidal current generator devices. Yan Li lead a staff of over 20 specialists and was responsible for 4 projects related to test and assessment technologies on ocean monitoring instruments and ocean energy generator devices in tank and in the real environment.
Yan Li earned her master's degree in Harbor, Coastal and Offshore Engineering from the National Ocean Technology Center in 2005. She earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology at the Hebei University of Economics & Business in 2002. Her study focused on data management and optimization and combination technology of integrated ocean observation systems. Her research results where applied in the operational ocean observation and information service system funded by the National High-tech R&D Program of China and operated by Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries. Yan Li was awarded the “Excellent Youth Scientist” prize in 2006.
